Hal passed away on February 10, 2026 at the age of 85. He retired from NASA after a 35-year career at KSC/MSC/JSC.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, located at 311 N. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, TX. A graveside service will follow.
